Madellaine Paxson: I Love Chatea de Challain
Hi Cynthia, just a quick note to tell you how much I adore Chateau de Challain. I have visited it twice with my husband, and it is literally one of my favorite places on earth. I reviewed it on Trip Advisor after our first visit, and our second visit was so fabulous, once again, I knew it was no fluke. The amount of work you have put into the chateau is truly inspirational. I would love to hear your entire story, ie, how you got the idea, and how you went about taking on such a daunting challenge. Anyway, like I said, I just wanted to let you know how much we love what you've done, and are so grateful you did it. We've tried staying at other chateaus, but there is literally nothing like Challain. Between your taste in decor and the staff you've hired, you've created a sublime experience. Out visits are a special memory we will treasure forever. Of course we want to go back! Which we will, once circumstances allow. Thank you again, your work has blessed so many (including us!) Also we aabsolutely loved Zeus ;) Madellaine Paxson

Ruth and James May: Wonderful service
After arriving late we were met by the staff of the Chateau, we were quickly shown our rooms and even at this late hour 21:45 they managed to serve us with a delightful meal. Followed by a stunning breakfast in the morning on the veranda. Best B and B in France. Many thanks to all at the Chateau de Challain.

Cynthia: I've been struggling to find the words to describe what an incredible experience we had last week. It was both wonderful and memorable. The food was extraordinary, service impeccable. The fireworks display was amazing. It was better than most of our local displays on July 4th! The jazz band was ideal, very good music and singing that drew rounds of applause but not overpowering the dinner conversation. Horseback riding was an unexpected pleasure. Fabian had arranged a ride for some of my guests who then disappeared. My sister, I and another guest sitting at Chez Guy's seized the opportunity and had a great experience. The bike trip was very fun, the proprietaire, whose name eludes me right now, was enchanting with her knowledge of wine and viticulture. I'd like to speak with you sometime soon, but wanted to share my experience before I get entrenched in the daily grind. Thank you so much. Scott.

Alexandria: Silver wedding
Cynthia Just a quick note to thank you for a most enjoyable and memorable stay last week for our silver wedding anniversary. I am not sure whether you know but the following day (7th), an article appeared in the British tabloid press profiling your chateau which my mother texted me about: http******dailymail.co.uk/travel/article-2385914/French-chateau-breaks-A-luxury-weekend-Chateau-Challagne-Anjou***l I spoke to Rachel this morning because John realised this weekend that he had left his wrist watch and pocket torch in our room which Rachel said she had found after we had left. I am posting a small jiffy bag, pre-stamped, to you so that you can return these items to us with ease. Sorry for the inconvenience! We are still awaiting the photos from M Christophe and will forward one once they have arrived. Thank you once again Kind regards Alexandra Punter

Guillame & Amber: Wonderful stay
Hi Cynthia, We visited your castle on the 26th of January and found is fantastic. Sorry, took so long to get back to you, we have been quite tied up with University work. Our budget is tight so we are thinking to do several thins ourselves. We are looking at a maximum of 100 peoples from the states, france and the UK. The things that we would like to take care ourselves are: catering, all stationary, photography, floral, DJ, and all decorating. We would source all this ourselves and setup the majority of it. The things we would like help with: finding a paster, having help for some setting up on the day, hairdresser, and the bride would like to ride in on a horse. The time we are thinking is a saturday in July 2013. We would possibly want an earlier checkin the day before for setting up purposes. We also agree that it would be very beneficial to discuss things over Skype. If you could tell us what would be a good day and time for you, we will make sure to be available. Our biggest concern is about budget. We are attempting to manage a simple event but that also meets our personalities. So we would really appreciate frequent updates on our budget situation on your side. The castle is exactly what we were imagining on our special day. Best regards, Guillaume and Amber.

Dan Swelt: Magnificent stay
Hey Cynthia - We had a WONDERFUL time! The chateau is truly beautiful - a really unique experience. All of the rooms were gorgeous - we stayed in the Romance Suite and were particularly impressed with the bathroom. We enjoyed meeting Zeus and Fabian was a wonderful host and chef (we ate in-house both nights). We're anxious to go back - we had spent the past few days touring the Loire chateaux when we arrive at Challain and really felt like we should have skipped them all and just spent the extra time there. Thanks for making such an amazing place to visit - hopefully we'll be back soon and get to meet you next time! Best, Dan Hey Cynthia - We had a WONDERFUL time! Kelly Ashton: What a wonderful trip
Cynthia, Thank you so much for the lovely upgraded room. It was so cozy and quiet. We had such a great time on our honeymoon. Your chateau is very beautiful and your staff were friendly, helpful and made our stay that much better. Our favorite staff member would have to be zeus. The first day we were there I got up early and wanted to go exploring but I couldn't figure out how to open the front door. Zeus, who was waiting patiently by my side, saw my frustration and got up, gestured for me to follow him and then ran to the back of the chateau to where the big giraffe head is. He hit the window with his paw and pointed to the knob with his nose. I was able to get out that way, and then Zeus showed me all around the grounds. He's such a good boy :) We will definately come back someday. The food was amazing (and we usually ate too much ;)

Simon Nicholson: Many thanks for your hospitality
Thanks for asking and everything went well during our stay! Hommer, Rachel and Brigette (? hope I get her name correct) are very kind and helpful. We enjoyed the food, ambience, room, etc. in the Chateau. Everything is amazing! What a pity that Gillian and I cannot meet you during our stay and thank you personally! However, I guess we shall meet each other later as we intend to visit your Chateau again (with friends) in the future. Regards Simon

Hi Cynthia Not sure if you remember us but we are the 2 Australians that arrived very late for our one night visit to your beautiful castle back in late June 2010. We would like to thank you for the exceptional hospitality and in making our visit feel like it was a fairytale. Our time at Chateau de Challain was a major highlight of our round the world trip! We wish to visit again some time to relive the moment.

Shirley Bovette Rudin: Superb
Dear Cynthia: I have always wanted to stay in a castle in Europe, and I can now mark that off my extensive Bucket List! Chateau de Challain more than fulfilled that fantasy and the experience was absolutely wonderful. Manu was an energetic host and we thoroughly enjoyed having free reign of your lovely home. You have restored the Challain in a magnificent manner and we felt like royalty staying there. The dinner Manu prepared for us was delicious--it was the best canard I have ever eaten. We were so sorry we did not get to meet you. However, we certainly understand your wanting to be there when your grandchild was born. We have two beautiful granddaughters, and there is nothing in this world better than being Nana and Grandpa! Perhaps we can return in the future and get to meet you then.

Bent and Jeanette: Dream fulfilled
Hi! We had the dream wedding we wanted at Chateau De Challain on the 22nd of July! Cynthia Nicholson is very professional, and made sure that our wedding day was perfect. Everything from decorations, cake, food, fireworks, photographer +++ was better than we could imagine. The chateau/castle is like a Disney-castle, and is the perfect setting for a wedding. All our guest and ourselves were thrilled by the beauty of the venue. We can recommend Cynthia Nicholson and Chateau De Challain to anyone who want to get married! Best regards Bent & Jeanette

Claire and Ted: Perfect day
My husband and I were recently married at Château Challain this past July. I can not express how perfectly everything went. The grounds were beautiful and the château was gorgeous. Planning a wedding from abroad can seem complicated, but Cynthia, the owner, and her niece Rebekah could not have been more attentive. They organized extra activities such as a guided vineyard tour, a hog roast, and a murder mystery dinner for all of our guests. They also coordinated the florist and musicians, as well as the decorations for our wedding ceremony and dinner. Everyone had a great time! It was better than I ever could have imagined!

R and M Allen: Fairytale Chateau
I first found the chateau while searching the internet for a French wedding venue back in summer 2005. I wanted an intimate wedding in a spectacular venue and the chateau provided just that! The chateau itself is a fairytale venue both inside and out. During our first visit my husband and I couldn't take it in - it was, and is, breathtaking. Our bridal party stayed with us on the eve of the wedding at the chateau, while our remaining 30 guests stayed in the nearby Le Clos des Guibouleraies Guesthouse, equally beautiful, with a rustic French charm. The accommodation at Le Clos des Guibouleraies was recommended by Cynthia, the chateau owner, and our guests absolutely loved it. It was so wonderful to wake up on the morning of our wedding feeling like a princess in my own castle - the bedrooms are to die for! As we had a Catholic ceremony we brought our own priest along and were married in a church in a neighbouring village which our priest negotiated for us. Then it was back to the chateau for the reception. Our guests were truly gob-smacked when they arrived at the chateau - and the rest of the day matched up to this first impression. Fabien and Jean-Marie, Cynthia's right hand men, couldn't have been more accommodating. They served champagne and canapés to our guests as they wandered around the sumptuous gardens and explored the chateau's interior, alongside the sounds of the saxophonist, Kevork, from Paris, who moved among the crowd. Fabien even brought Russell and I some champagne and canapés of our own as we were having our photos taken. These 2 men, florists by profession, also created our bouquets and all of the floral arrangements for the day, and we were so impressed by them.

P and J Sheeham: To whom it may concern
This is a wholehearted thank you to Cynthia Nicholson and the staff at Chateau de Challain for making our wedding day and trip as special as it was in July 2007. We know that we speak for all in our group of 23 people when we say that the castle grounds, atmosphere, service and food were nothing short of magical. The welcome we received upon our arrival to the castle was unlike anything anyone in our group had ever experienced. Our initial concerns about having our wedding in a foreign country, making wire transfers of not only our funds but our guests' funds, and relying on unknown people to make our day special were immediately erased. All of the rooms in the castle are quite elegant, modern and classy. Every morning we started our day with a delightful breakfast including fresh pastries, croissants, fruit, coffee and juice. Upon arriving at the castle Cynthia welcomed everyone, gave a tour of the castle and showed our guests to their rooms. Cynthia completely took care of setting up the wine pairings, deciding in which rooms the guests were best suited to stay, the color coordination for the wedding rehearsal dinner and for the wedding dinner. She also assisted us with our transportation needs, which included locating two large vans, driving 30 minutes each way with two staff members to pick up our vans, then returning them at the end of our trip. Cynthia's attention to detail was superb and our entire stay, especially the wedding day, was perfect. Due to inclement weather, our hopes for an outdoor wedding were dashed the night before. However, Cynthia immediately and effortlessly rearranged the foyer of the castle into a grand ceremony site. We are extremely happy that we had the ceremony inside and now cannot imagine it any other way. All of the flowers and their placement were perfect and made for a romantic location. The bridal and maid of honor bouquets as well as the flowers for the groom and groomsmen were exceptional and unique, designed to fit our desire and style. Cynthia helped us locate and secure a contract with a photographer and videographer for the wedding day. She was also responsible for hiring the bride's hair and makeup artists, both of whom did excellent work. The delicious menus we chose for the wedding rehearsal dinner and for the wedding dinner were made more exquisite by the castle's chefs than we ever imagined. The table was decorated most beautifully, complete with napkins and decorations that matched our wedding colors. The entire dinner setting proved to be a castle feast fit for a king and queen. Cynthia's lovely daughter Tabitha served almost exclusively as our private tour guide and friend to all of our guests, but especially bonded with the young people in our group and made everyone feel welcome. Our five-day stay, and most especially our wedding day, at the Chateau de Challain were superb and breathtaking. We continue to hear from everyone in our group that it was the trip of their lifetime. The only problem was that we had to leave the beautiful castle. We fully and wholeheartedly endorse Cynthia's talents and managerial skills and ability to make any and every event at the Chateau de Challain magical. With warmest regards, Patrick and Julie Sheehan

Grace English: Heartfelt Thank You
Dear Cynthia, I'd like to express a most heartfelt thank-you. Your warm hospitality that fills the chateau makes one feel exceeding welcome. Our stay at the chateau was an all encompassing experience evolking all of ones senses. From the beautiful grounds and the exquisite interior design to the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen gallery hintiing of the feast that lies ahead, and the melodic chiming of the chapel bells to the decadent fine dining to satisfy anyone's palate. But what truly made the experience so memorable is you and your incredible staff who seem dedicated to satisfy and surpass the expectations of each guest. Like a conductor directing a symphonic orchestra you masterfully bring all the pieces together to creata harmonious event of breathtaking splendor. So thank-you again for making this fairytale dream wedding, for Melissa and Jason, become a reality far beyond what anyone could expect. Sincerely, Cry for happy - Grace
